After an early morning pickup from your Seoul hotel, you’ll travel by coach to Petite France. The Korean TV series “My Love from the Star” starring Kim Soo-Hyun and Jun Ji-Hyun filmed in this very charming French town.
Do Min-jun(Kim Soo-hyun) kisses Cheon Song-yi(Jun Ji-Hyun) by using his supernatural powers. This romantic scene unfolds at Petite France. It was also a filming location of Korean dramas Secret Garden, Beethoven Virus, and variety program Running Men.
Petite France, which consists of 16 French-style buildings, serves as both a French cultural village as well as a youth training facility. The village contains a memorial hall dedicated to celebrated French novelist Antoine de Saint-Exupery. It also has a gallery displaying sculptures and paintings of ‘le coq gaulois’ (the Gallic rooster), which is the national symbol of France.
We then continue to famous for its beautiful tree-lined roads, Nami Island. The island was formed as a result of the construction of the Cheongpyeong Dam and is just an hour away from the suburbs of Seoul.
Follow your knowledgeable guide as you check out locations where the main characters of Winter Sonata shared the screen and won the hearts of their fans. Released in Korea in 2002, Winter Sonata (Gyeoul Yeonga) quickly became one of the most popular shows on Korean television. You’ll stroll along tree-lined paths where the main couple, Yu-jin and Jun-sang, had some of their most memorable moments. Check out Winter Sonata shots reproduced on poster-size signs throughout Nami Island at locations where the scenes were filmed. Snap photos with the statue of the star-crossed lovers in the center of the island – a fun souvenir!
Depending on the season, you’ll experience different aspects of the island. In the summer, visitors can enjoy boating around the island. If you visit in the fall, you’ll be treated the leaves changing colors. Winter brings snowy landscapes, some of which were used as a backdrop to Yu-jin and Jun-sang’s love story, including their first kiss.
Finally, explore Myeongdong Street which lies in the heart of downtown Chuncheon. This hip area is lined with fast-food restaurants, night clubs and movie theaters. Originally known as Joyang-dong, the street’s name was replaced to “Myeongdong,” which is also the name of Seoul’s hippest shopping district. Visit the Jungang Market and Chuncheon’s underground shopping district. You can even try some delicious Dakgalbi from one of the many Dakgalbi restaurants in the area.
